Assistant Professor of Journalism Department of Journalism and Mass Communication - South Dakota State University
Main Duties:
The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at South Dakota State University invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, tenure track appointment as an Assistant Professor. SDSU is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to and/or coordinate course offerings that address the experiences of underrepresented minorities in organizations. RESPONSIBILITIES: We seek candidates qualified to teach undergraduate courses in the department’s majors (Advertising, Journalism, Public Relations), to teach graduate courses and advise students in the online Master in Mass Communication program, and to run the South Dakota High School Press Association. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate will have: • An earned Doctorate in Journalism and Mass Communication; • Undergraduate and graduate teaching experience in Journalism and Mass Communication; • Online teaching experience; • An established record of research and publication; • Scholastic journalism experience; • Demonstrated effective written communication skills; • Demonstrated effective oral communication and interpersonal relations skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Preference will be given to candidates who have relevant professional media experience. SALARY: The salary for this position is competitive and based on experience, education, and status in the scholarly and professional community.
