In addition to our talented environmental lawyers and legislative advocates, we have an amazing communications department that works in strategic partnership with every department in our organization. We are looking for a skilled storyteller to join us as a multimedia associate. This person should have a passion for creativity and visual storytelling. They should have the demonstrated ability to tell stories using a variety of mediums including photography, video, audio, and other emerging technologies. This position will be managed by the Senior Multimedia Producer.
Required Knowledge:
Responsibilities  Create multimedia content from conception to completion that supports organizational priorities  Edit photos for Earthjustice’s digital, social and print materials  Produce short, readable videos  Edit longer form videos for online and in-person audiences  Photograph and video record the people and places impacted by Earthjustice’s work  Find, evaluate and hire multimedia contractors, including but not limited to photographers and filmmakers; provide art direction and management to contractors  Download, organize and edit footage from freelancers  Acquire photo and video from outside sources (e.g. stock houses, freelancers and local groups)  Manage Earthjustice’s photo and video database  Take part in Creative and Communication team meetings for strategy development, project brainstorming, debriefs, etc.  Help develop distribution plans for digital content across multiple formats and platforms; set clear metrics and analyze data to inform content promotion tactics
Required Experience:
Qualifications  BA or higher degree. The ideal candidate would have an advanced degree in multimedia journalism or a related field or equivalent experience  3+ years applied experience with photo, video and multimedia story creation online and/or print  Fluency with multimedia editing software including at least several of the following: Photoshop, Bridge, Final Cut Pro, Premier Pro, After Effects, Audition, Audacity, and others  Familiarity with social media video and photo editing  Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects, some requiring immediate response and others planned for the longer term  Familiarity with and interest in environmental issues  Willingness to take on administrative tasks, as needed  Ability to manage project budgets and negotiate with contractors  Excited about learning new skills and adaptable to new ways of doing things  Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to conduct interviews and assignments with subjects in sensitive situations  Familiarity with video analytics  Ability to supervise and art-direct freelance photographers, videographers and video editors  Familiarity with web presentation tools such as CMS, HTML, CSS, and Javascript strongly preferred  Demonstrates an awareness and sensitivity to the needs and concerns of individuals from diverse cultures, backgrounds and orientations  Contributes to the creation of a diverse, equitable and inclusive work culture that encourages and celebrates differences
