NAJA elects three new board members and selects 2018-2019 executive committee

MIAMI -- Members of the Native American Journalists Association elected Tristan Ahtone (Kiowa) as the newest member of the board of directors on Saturday, July 21. Lenzy Krehbiel-Burton and Bryan Pollard were also re-elected to second terms. Each will serve a three-year term.

NAJA Election Committee Co-Chair and outgoing board member Darren Brown announced the official results at the conclusion of the 2018 NAJA National Native Media Awards Banquet held in conjunction with the annual conference in Miami, Florida.

The NAJA Board of Directors also elected 2018-2019 officers during the first meeting with new members in attendance on Sunday, July 22. Victoria LaPoe, Jennifer Bell, Krehbiel-Burton and Pollard were all unanimously re-elected to their positions on the executive committee.

  • Lenzy Krehbiel-Burton (Cherokee), Secretary

Shyanne Beatty (Hangwichin Athabascan), Graham Brewer (Cherokee), Jacqueline Keeler (Diné / Ihanktonwan Dakota) and Ramona Marozas (Bad River Band of the Lake Superior Tribe of Chippewa Indians) will remain seated for the duration of their terms.
