Visual Communication Faculty - School of Journalism at Michigan State University
Main Duties:
The School of Journalism at Michigan State University seeks a visual communicator with an emphasis in photojournalism or documentary photography to join our faculty as a tenure-track assistant professor in August 2018. Candidates will have potential for external funding in their areas of expertise. The ideal candidate will have a well-defined research agenda with evidence of scholarly publication in peer reviewed journals, will share our vision for an exciting future for journalism, and will teach our students to be world-class visual journalists.

Our innovative colleague will have the potential to be an exemplary teacher who engages in active learning, conducts research in their chosen area of communication and joins our efforts to seek external funding. Thus, candidates will have a PhD, an MFA or other terminal degree in a related field by August 15, 2018, and evidence of scholarly research work and teaching effectiveness. Professional journalism experience and grant activity are desired.

Required Knowledge:
The School of Journalism at Michigan State University debuted in Spring 2017 a $1.5-million state-of-the-art newsroom and motion-capture studio, demonstrating it is light years ahead in its imagination to offer students the critical thinking, writing and visual communication skills to be leaders in this exciting, evolving industry.
