Main Duties:
The Associated Press seeks an aggressive reporter for a 17-week temporary position in its Denver bureau. This reporter will cover a wide range of news, especially politics, government, public spending, health care and crime and courts, for state, national and international audiences. The successful candidate will excel at accountability journalism and breaking original news stories.
Required Knowledge:
The successful candidate has strong news judgment, is adept at using public records to break news, can comb data to develop and execute story ideas, has a track record of aggressive source building and sets the agenda by writing about issues before other news outlets. The successful candidate will generate enterprise stories that explain how government action or inaction affects people. Multimedia news gathering experience is a plus. Advanced-level professional competency in written and spoken English is required. Authorization to work in the U.S. is mandatory. Duration: 17 weeks, starting Jan. 13, 2014.
