- The Department of Television, Film and
Media Studies offers the B.A. degree with options in Telecommunications and Film and Broadcast Journalism; the M.A. degree in Critical Media Studies jointly with the Department of Communication; and the M.F.A. in Television, Film and Theatre jointly with the

- Required Knowledge:
- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Ph.D., M.F.A. or relevant terminal degree including Juris Doctor or terminal degree in related discipline from an accredited institution of higher education awarded prior to commencement of the Fall quarter 2014. Minimum of three to five years professional
experience in cross-platform, converged journalism. Candidates should provide record of or potential for research, scholarly and/or creative activity involving students whenever possible, as well as the demonstrated potential for effective University teaching
using a variety of methodologies. Candidates should also demonstrate an ability or interest in teaching in a multicultural, multiethnic campus.
Some college teaching experience preferred including experience supervising University-based student driven online, broadcast and print journalism platforms. Strengths in electronic graphics especially in graphic design, infographics and animated news graphics.
Familiarity and expertise with Adobe Flash desired. Bilingual English-Spanish language skills desired.
teaching load (normally 12 units per quarter for three quarters each year), including lower and upper division undergraduate courses in contemporary converged journalism studies and practices – online, broadcast and print. These may include courses and practicums
in news gathering, writing, and delivery across multiple converged platforms. In addition to teaching, duties include student advisement and committee service for the Department, College of Arts and Letters, and the University, contribution to curriculum development; participation in and initiation of appropriate industry and community relations, engagement in appropriate research, scholarly and/or creative activities; assistance with developing and implementing learning outcomes-based journalism program assessment plans.
