Main Duties:
KGOU Radio seeks an experienced news leader to build upon a strong tradition of local, state and regional news and public affairs coverage for both KGOU’s and StateImpact Oklahoma’s broadcast and digital services. Our work wins awards, including a 2014 Sigma Delta Chi award from the Society of Professional Journalists in the Radio Breaking News category for coverage of the May 2013 tornadoes in Oklahoma. The News Director develops and implements news programming strategies, sets direction and edits KGOU and StateImpact Oklahoma reporters, creates content for both broadcast and digital platforms, reports spot news, longer features and produces a weekly 30 or 60-minute public affairs for broadcast, and is the main point of contact with NPR’s regional bureau chief. There will be emphasis on legislative issues, but stories will include breaking spot news and human interest features.
Required Knowledge:
The ideal candidate will have a strong track record as a reporter, writer and supervisor, with demonstrated abilities in media production, workflow processes and editing software
