NAJA Student Chapters
Students are crucial to NAJA as youth make up nearly one half of our growing organization. Students also carry out NAJA's mission of s erving and empowering Native journalists through programs and actions designed to enrich journalism and promote Native cultures.
Students petitioning to a chapter on their campus need the following:
1. A letter to NAJA's headquarters addressed to the executive director outlining the desire to establish a chapter. This letter should include the goals and purpose of the group, and a charter.
2. A completed application.
3. Paid membership dues of a minimum of 8 students.
4. A membership roster that includes each student's name, college or university, major and signature to affirm their desire to be part of the chapter.
5. A letter of nomination from the student chapter adviser, who must be a NAJA member in good standing.
6. A letter of support from the local chapter, if there is one nearby.
7. A copy of student produced media, such as newspaper or newsletter, if one is available.
