Morning Edition / Online Producer
WRNI / Rhode Island Public Radio

Responsibilities:
- Provide production support for WRNI’s local Morning Edition host.
- Research and write news stories for Morning Edition’s hourly newscasts.
- Conduct interviews to produce sound-bites and “wraps” for the morning newscasts.
- Produce in-depth interviews with the Morning Edition host by
researching and scheduling interviewees; edit interviews and make them
ready for air.
- Work with reporters to digitally mix audio stories.
- Work with the news director, reporters, hosts and interns to
constantly update WRNI’s website with local stories and original WRNI
features.
- Oversee posting and organization of stories on WRNI.org, working with
WRNI’s content management system.
- Convert audio and edit reporter scripts to be posted as text stories
and audio files online.
- Collaborate with reporters to capture, edit and post digital
photographs to accompany local features on WRNI.org.
- Prepare online photo galleries and audio slideshows to accompany
features on WRNI.org.
- Produce video features for WRNI.org, which could also air as original
audio features for broadcast.
- Send out daily e-mail newsletters to WRNI listeners with links to WRNI
features as a way to generate web traffic and alert listeners to
content on WRNI.org.
Requirements:
- Applicant must have at least a four-year college degree in journalism
or a related field.
- Applicant must have at least three years of professional journalism experience
including significant online and broadcast production experience.
- Applicant must have at least three years of newsroom experience
working under deadline.
- Applicant must be familiar with audio editing software programs,
including Protools, Fast Edit and Adobe Audition.
- Applicant must have significant experience working on-line, including
posting stories, photos and video to the web.
- The producer is required to begin work on Morning Edition at 4:00 AM
every weekday.
- This position requires occasional work on holidays, evenings and weekends.
Salary Range:
$24,500 -- $32,500 / year plus health, dental, 401k and FSA benefits
