The Journalism Department at Columbia College Chicago invites applications for a multimedia journalist and educator who is an accomplished practitioner and innovative thinker, for a tenure-track faculty appointment to begin Spring or Fall Semester 2011.
Columbia College Chicago is an urban institution of over 12,000 undergraduate and graduate students, emphasizing arts, media, and communications in a liberal arts setting and the Journalism Department seeks a candidate who will help our students become sophisticated and compassionate thinkers, writers, project architects, and leaders. Our department is committed to preparing students for success in the future of journalism. An individual with innovative ideas and a collaborative plan to implement them will be a welcome addition to our team. We want someone who can educate our students to report across multiple media platforms and help us adapt our curriculum wisely.
The person we select for this tenure-track position will have a distinguished professional background in reporting and writing. He or she will value the importance of storytelling across platforms and be able to work with faculty and students individually and in teams to foster entrepreneurship, creating interactive, imaginative and powerful stories across our curriculum. In addition to teaching, the tenure-track candidate will be required to advise and mentor students, serve the college and community, and remain active in the journalism field while pursuing creative, professional, and scholarly endeavors. Master's degree required.
College-level teaching experience preferred.

Summary of Job Responsibilities:
The Reynolds School of Journalism at the University of Nevada, Reno seeks an outstanding journalist to design and lead a new program in business journalism. The bar has been set high by our friend and late colleague, David Morrow.
Our ideal candidate will combine broad experience in business coverage with an interest in emerging issues of the green economy, economic sustainability and fiscal stress. We are looking for someone who has a distinguished record of publication in print, broadcast or online media and who is energized by the challenges facing journalism today.
He or she should have extensive experience in journalism or journalism education and be equipped to teach in-depth reporting, both explanatory and investigative. Like all specialties in our school, the business curriculum will be expected to explore new forms of content and delivery.
We believe the green economy will be one of the next decade's biggest stories, and we seek a candidate who can bring together policy-makers, business people and journalists to discuss and debate key issues. This emphasis will complement our Master's program in environmental journalism and our chair will also be able to work with faculty in our College of Business Administration and our Academy for the Environment.
The chair was made possible by a gift from the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation, and the person who fills it will be expected to collaborate with Reynolds chairs in business journalism at other universities. The salary will be highly competitive.

The Roy H. Park School of Communications Department of Journalism at
Ithaca College is accepting applications for a tenure-eligible,
Assistant/Associate Professor position, beginning August 16, 2010.
We're looking for a creative and energetic colleague who will teach a
combination of journalistic skills (News Reporting and Writing and
Digital Journalism/Multimedia) and conceptual courses that examine
journalistic practice (Visual Journalism, News Editing, etc.). The ideal
candidate will be required to teach the application of digital
technology in reporting across all journalistic platforms. The candidate
will also share our commitment to teaching, advising and service, be
actively engaged in research and scholarship, and will welcome the
opportunity to participate in the greater life of the college.
The Department of Journalism is one of four departments in the Roy H.
Park School of Communications, which enrolls approximately, 1,300
undergraduates and 30 graduate students; about 200 are undergraduate
journalism majors and 50 journalism minors. Ithaca College is located
in the beautiful Finger Lakes region. The comprehensive residential
institution's hilltop campus overlooks Cayuga Lake and the surrounding

Assistant Professor and Director of Native American Journalism Projects
General Information:
The University of Montana School of Journalism seeks applicants for the position of assistant professor and director of Native American journalism projects.
The person who fills this position serves two key functions:
· As an assistant professor, this person will develop an agenda of creative/scholarly activity, teaching and service. This is a tenure-track position.
· As director of Native American projects, this person will develop new initiatives across UM and beyond involving Native American programs and students, and will further develop and direct Reznet, a nationally acclaimed program centered on Native Americans, youth and journalism.
Reznet, now in its eighth year, is a training and mentoring program for American Indian college students in Montana and around the country, and a Native American news, information and entertainment Web site. http://reznetnews.org/
Essential functions as Assistant Professor include:
· Fulfilling the School’s standards for teaching, creative activity and service. This will include teaching two courses each academic year.
· Developing new opportunities for collaboration at UM and across the region, particularly with tribal communities.
· Helping the University recruit Native American students.
Essential functions as Director of Native American Journalism Projects include:
· Raising necessary funds from multiple sources for Reznet’s continued existence. This includes writing grants, and working with the dean, Journalism chairs, the UM Foundation, the Office for Research and Development, and other entities on campus on fundraising opportunities.
· Building from Reznet’s success as a mentoring program and Web site, and developing a vision for the future of the project.
· Developing new opportunities for collaboration at UM and across the region, particularly with tribal communities.
· Recruiting, mentoring and working with young Native Americans and others to develop journalism programs and goals.
· Engaging in ongoing collaboration with such programs as the American Indian Journalism Institute in South Dakota.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will provide evidence of the following qualifications:
· Significant professional news media experience including in multiple media formats.
· Demonstrated experience working with Native Americans and in tribal communities.
· Demonstrated experience working with Native American youth.
· A track record of innovation and collaboration.
· A master’s degree is preferred. Candidates with a bachelor’s degree and a national reputation in journalism may be competitive.
· Experience in fundraising or in obtaining grants is preferred.
